Frequently asked questions
What is CAGR?
Compound Annual Growth Rate is the constant annual rate that would grow the beginning value into the ending value, smoothing out year-to-year ups and downs.
How is the Rule of 72 used?
Divide 72 by the annual percentage return to approximate the years needed to double — e.g. 72 ÷ 8 ≈ 9 years.
Does CAGR show volatility?
No. It describes the smoothed path and hides the swings in between, so two investments with the same CAGR can feel very different to hold.
